As an AHA BLS Instructor you will be certified to teach all of the following courses:

Skills

Instructors need to demonstrate mastery in all skills for the courses they teach. This includes both cognitive skills as well as psychomotor skills.

Course delivery

Instructors need to teach AHA materials correctly and as outlined in the appropriate Instructor Manual and Lesson Plans.

Testing

Instructors must be able to test students effectively.

Professionalism

Instructors need to maintain a high standard of ethics and professionalism when teaching AHA courses.

Program Administration

Instructors need to be able to manage time, space, materials, and paperwork in compliance with AHA guidelines.

To enroll in the Sierra BLS LLC AHA BLS Instructor Course, please follow these steps:

Pre-Class Preparation

Submit the following items via email to [email protected] at least five business days before the class date:

  • Current AHA BLS Provider CPR card copy.
  • AHA BLS Instructor Essentials Online certificate of completion.

Purchase Instructor Manuals

Obtain the BLS (and Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED if you plan to teach that discipline) Instructor Manuals and other necessary teaching materials. Sierra BLS LLC offers Instructor Packages for convenience, or materials can be purchased from any vendor.

Attend the BLS Instructor Course

Topics covered include AHA Program Administration, effective course planning and teaching, and course administration.

Instructor Monitoring

Must be completed within six months of the Instructor course to finalize certification. This will be where your competence as an Instructor is verified before you can be independent.
